The Queen’s New Consort

Dearest Gentle Reader –

It has been said that, “To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance,” and if so, then the Queen has already found a perfect match in herself.

It is always with baited breath that the Kingdom sits in rapt attention to the Queen’s relationship with each new King. It has become quite evident that the Queen is not interested in the finer points of intellectual discourse or rational thought, but is only piqued by the power vested in the position.

With both the current King and the previous one, the Queen virtually cuddled up to the glow of their power. Of course, this was merely the power given to them by virtue of the position – one in which the Queen has not an uncommon amount of power in bestowing. The Queen has always been enamored of her position, because it made people have to listen to her. And she was always able to leverage her position to create situations driven by acts of cruelty – both large and small.

Many of the ideas and actions driving the Kingdom have been from her behind the scenes  meddling, often without consent or sometimes, even knowledge of the other bored members. Her petty ambitions have disrupted the educational system by which our children learn, in order for her to enact vengeance upon those that she sees as her enemies and frenemies.

In short – the Queen doesn’t really care about education or children. She cares about using her position for social posturing about her supposed “good works.”

This brings us to her latest consort. Even while the interviewing process was going on, the Queen was batting her lashes at what would become her latest conquest – as the newest King “looked” powerful, at least physically. However, it is also said that, “might is no match for mind” and it is obvious that what our King displays in physical prowess, he does not, sadly, have an intellect to match. But none of that matters to our Queen, she is attracted to him for his power as surely as a moth is attracted to the flame. Perhaps the Queen will be able to avoid the sad ending of the poor moth, but given that her reign rests in the hands of the peasantry, we can only hope that they wake up to the sad truth – that she holds this position only for the power it gives her.

Additionally, our newest King did not seek out the position to enact a philosophy of education vested in using the resources available to make the lives of children better, but from the sheer vanity of being the Kingdom’s #1. From the King’s own quotes on social media, “As for the job, there’s not a higher position in a school district than superintendent and that was my goal.”

And this Kingdom is just a small step in his ultimate goal to rule larger and larger Kingdoms, so there is that. Sayeth the King once again on social media, “Can’t run the big districts until you run the small ones. Check back in a few years. I set goals and I accomplished them.” Perhaps he will be able to move on more quickly than the length of his current mandate in our Kingdom, but heaven help the next one he moves onto. Check back in a few years and we can track the path of destruction wrought by his “spin-nado.”

Until then, we are stuck with them both. Between them, the King and Queen present a portrait to be studied, but not replicated. Everyone in our Kingdom deserves better leadership, more thoughtfulness, deeper thinking, and a hell of a lot more empathy than we can currently expect from them. It’s simply beyond their capacity, as they remain enamored of their own reflections and of the masks they show to the world.

Given the depth of their self-love, this Valentine’s Day must already be considered a success by both the Queen and the King. Let’s hope that before next year rolls around, we will be celebrating something more centered around our children and staff, instead of wasting our limited time and energy catering to our royalty’s egos.

Sincerely,

Lady Whistleblower
